Monica Chernoff, M.S., LMFT
Monica Chernoff is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the mental health of children, adolescents, and student-athletes (high school to professional level). A former All-American and All-SCIAC water polo player at Occidental College and a member of the Philippine National Team, Monica brings a unique and personal perspective to her work with athletes navigating performance pressure, identity development, and life transitions.
Monica received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California and her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Occidental College. In her Hermosa Beach-based private practice, she offers both in-person and telehealth sessions for individuals residing in California. Monica works through a clinical, holistic, and family perspective with athletes, students, and their families making her a sought-after therapist in the South Bay Area in CA.
Beyond the therapy room, Monica is a passionate advocate for athlete mental health. She has been featured on podcasts and in articles, served on the medical psychology team for the LA Marathon, and regularly partners with local and collegiate teams to provide workshops, public speaking, and performance mindset training. Monica is dedicated to helping athletes of all levels build emotional resilience, strengthen their identity, and thrive both in and out of sport.
