The Hidden Opponent is the leading non-profit organization for athlete mental health advocacy, education, and support. We provide accessible resources and unite a global community to empower athletes to prioritize their mental health and shatter the stigma within sports culture.

Our origin story begins back in 2017, when our founder, Victoria Garrick Browne, gave a TEDx talk about student-athlete mental health. The video has since gained over 651,000 views on YouTube. Victoria saw a need to do more. She formally founded The Hidden Opponent in October 2019, and the inaugural year of the Campus Captains program was launched in the fall of 2020.

Our impact has only grown! The Hidden Opponent has reached millions across the globe through our social media efforts, Campus Captains programming, Coaches & Professionals resources, in-person workshops, and partnerships!
