ADAM BOARDMAN, MA, LMFT
Adam Boardman, MA, LMFT, is a Southern California-based psychotherapist specializing in athlete mental health performance. His education includes a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from Pomona College (with a Thesis topic of "Gendered Speech Patterns among Elite Collegiate Female Athletes"), as well as extensive training in somatic-based trauma work (SE) and mental performance through the American Academy of Sports Psychology (AASP).
In his clinical practice, he has worked extensively with competitive athletes of all ages and career stages, from elite High school, collegiate, and world-class athletes. Adam is passionate about working with athletes as a population and helping them use their experience in sport to both find success and become stronger, deeper, and more fulfilled humans. A lifetime athlete whose athletic achievements include NCAA All-American in Cross Country and 5x Nationals Qualifier in track during his collegiate career at Pomona College, as well as running 5 marathons, including Boston. Adam is an avid cyclist, skier, runner, and consumer of basically all sports.
Adam has a background in entertainment and comedy and is a frequent speaker to groups of athletes, teams, and coaches/administrators in and around sport. As part of his work increasing the availability of clinical mental health support to competitive athletes, he founded and currently serves as the Director of the Medical Marathon Psychology Program at the Los Angeles Marathon; he is currently advocating for this model to be implemented worldwide.
